THOR GLOVES..., give it a try...

Postby obi one » 30 Sep 2010 10:12

I was in Zermatt (CH) yesterday and tested different skwal gears...Also, I tested The THOR Gloves ( see here http://www.thundercloudmarketing.com/FreePage22.htm ).

I had a quite good impression: very resistant to any wear thoruoghout a full session of heavy gloves gliding (icy conditions early morning)...I would say ideal for extreme carving rides :D

They are quite long (approx 38 cm) and easy to put on/off

Negatives
to the best of my knowledge, they still have to be imported...

if you already tested them let me know...

I already use this gloves last year and it is the best I ever bought.
Nothing to complain, and always quick response from the maker.
The best gloves for skwal.

I posted a test report on French site few month ago

i just received them, not tested in the snow but they really look like they can stand a hard ride.

i can not confirm. if you order from their website all you get is the paypal confirmation that the money has been transferred. no confirmation of order or anything from thundercloudmarketing.
i send 2 emails after 7 and 14 days asking for the status of the order but didn't get a reply.
finally they arrived (via a friend in the us), so everything is fine. us delivery took about 2 1/2 weeks, delivery to europe might take some more.
so if you plan to order you need some faith and patience.

I really would like to try Thor gloves, but these web pages look extremely obscure. Why are they placed at sites which have nothing to do with snow? Music and hunting in Texas... ? Today, when you can easily use much more trustworthy channels, e.g. ebay. But even if I would decide to take the risk of losing my money, how should I specify which size am I ordering? There are four different sizes available, but all "Buy Now" buttons redirect to paypal without any chance to select the size.
No contact information, no email.
Nice example how the business should not be done.

true.

but as already said above, with some patience and faith it will work (at least it did for me). you can specify the size during the paypal-payment. the image they have on the site leads to a good choice of the size, if in doubt i would take the larger size to ensure you can wear pair of liner gloves underneath when it really gets cold.

Just have received my Thor gloves today. The inner fabrics they use smells a bit like benzene but besides this, it looks pretty solid and comfortable. Basivally, it took roughly 3 weeks from the time I placed the order. Once you have placed the order through Paypal, you will get an email from Thor a couple of days later asking you to confirm the model/size/address you have orginally chosen before shipment.

And for those of you that would be concerned about not seing any contact info on their 'Texas hunting' web site, here is one:

Hi,

Wanna share some feedback on the THOR gloves.

I used them last year, and loved their robustness. What I didn't love though was the upper part (the opening). It was waaaay too wide for me (about 10cm too wide in my case, but I don't have big arms). That flaw, combined with the lack of some way to stop the snow to get in, allowed some snow to get into the folds. So here's what I did...
I folded and sewed to reduce the width of the opening by around 10cm (so the fold is about 5cm long). To make sure no snow would ever get in, I also used a part from an old pair of glove and added it.

I also informed John Steven of my mod. Maybe that'll be fixed in a future model !

Pete.

Yeah... communications is definitely not the best part of the buying experience with THOR Gloves... but at least we get some good strong and durable gloves !

I don't have huge hands, but measuring the same way it's indicated on the webpage (19,5cm for me), I chose the XL. They're a bit large, but that's better since I usually wear silk or polar gloves as first layer since the Thor gloves aren't warm enough for the weather in Québec !

XL for you??,
since you are approximately tall like me I would have bet for a S or M size...
