:blink: :blink: :huh:
Hello Carvingpeople,
I’ve made the jump from carvingskiing to skwaling, in my search for the ultimate carve feeling. Unfortunately I’ve never tried an Alpine snowboard…
Can someone tell me the difference between a skwal and an Alpine (or ExtremeCarve-)snowboard? What is the advantage or disadvantage of the smaller width of a skwal? Does it make any difference to the edgegrip or stability?
And most importantly;
What gives the ultimate carve feeling?? B)
Cheers,
Sam

just a quick reply...
Basicly, the skwal position is more natural since you're facing the slope... Of course, the carving is different, you can't lay down the turns the same way you might have seen on extremecarving.com, your hips "blocking" you. we'll try to answer deeply later.
Hi Pete,
Thanx for the quick reply! Why are my hips blocking me? For the frontside EC board turn I understand you; An EC boarder can twist his hip and shoulder line almost parallel to the slope. But the backside turn looks close to a skwal turn (see picture), and Patrices hip line is 90° to the slope. In what way are my hips blocking me? :huh: Thanx, B) Sam

For me it's more a matter of slope contidions if I choose to ride a Skwal (Lacroix or Thias P178) or any of my Alpine boards. If it's late in the season and it's too soft to carve or if there is lots of powder - I prefer an Alpine board wich i can do quicker and shorter turns with. Otherwise Skwalling is superior!!!
